“Gorgeous secluded campground. I didn't find a path to the lake but it was nice camping there regardless”
“We visited for 3 days, early September. It's a really nice campsite. Restrooms are kept clean and stocked with toilet paper. Looking forward to camping again there next year. ”

Cherry Valley Campground sits in the central Sierra Nevada among mixed conifers about 1.5 miles northeast of Cherry Valley Dam and provides direct access to Cherry Lake, the largest lake in the Stanislaus National Forest. Anglers come here for eastern brook trout, German brown trout, kokanee salmon and rainbow trout; a hiking trail drops down to the lake and there's a boat ramp near the dam off Cherry Lake Road for small boats and towing launches. The site is roughly an hour east of Tuolumne and an hour northeast of Groveland, and about 2.5 hours from the northwest border of Yosemite National Park. The surrounding forest supports a wide range of activities across the district boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, picnicking, off-highway vehicle riding, winter sports and interpretive programs so Cherry Valley works well as a base for water-based recreation and for exploring trails and forest roads nearby. Note that the road in is a winding mountain route and should be driven slowly; the approach from Tuolumne (via Buchanan Road into Cottonwood Road/FR 1N04) is the recommended route for RVs and towing. The campground has 45 total sites 31 sites set up for both RVs and tents and 14 tent-only sites with paved roads and paved spurs, each campsite furnished with a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill. You'll find drinking water and vault toilets on site; there is no mention here of hookups or a dump station, so come prepared for self-contained needs if you require them. Cherry Valley is generally open beginning the first day of California's fishing season (the last Friday in April) though opening and closing dates are weather-dependent; check the Forest Service or recreation.gov for current seasonal status, fees and reservation policies. Pets are permitted but must follow Tuolumne County leash laws.
