Crystal Springs Campground sits on the northern shore of Lake Ouachita, about 15 miles west of Hot Springs along US-270 before a short turn up North Crystal Springs Road. The campground contains 64 sites spread across four loops Loop A (22 sites), Loop B (15), Loop C (26) and a single site in Loop D. Sixty of those sites are set up to accept both RVs and tents, while four are tent-only, so whether you're towing a camper or pitching a tarp you'll find suitable spots. Facilities that serve day users and overnight guests include a boat ramp and swim beach for easy access to the lake's famously clear water, hot showers, a dump station and a fish-cleaning station. Families will appreciate the playground and two group picnic shelters (both wired for electricity); a reservable group campsite also offers electrical and water hookups. The location is unstaffed for reservations and general information call the main office at (501) 767-2101. The broader Lake Ouachita area is rich in recreational options and natural interest. The clear water and underwater visibility make this stretch of the lake a popular spot for scuba diving and water sports; anglers target species such as striped bass, and you may notice small, harmless freshwater jellyfish drifting among the rocks. Boating is common marinas and concession services are available nearby and there's a marked boating trail that highlights dramatic shoreline geology. On land, the Ouachita Mountains provide hiking and biking opportunities (part of the long Ouachita National Recreation Trail runs north of the lake), horseback riding concessions operate in the region, and winter brings bald eagles that attract birdwatchers and photographers. Picnicking and playground facilities at the campground make it a practical base for families and mixed-ability groups wanting both shoreline recreation and easy access to the services and lodgings near Hot Springs.
