Perched along the shoreline of Bull Shoals Lake in the Ozark Mountains, Lakeview Park Campground opens onto hundreds of miles of lake arms and coves that invite boating, water skiing, swimming and even scuba diving in sheltered fingers of the lake. The setting changes through the year summer brings dense hardwoods and cedar glades framed by rocky bluffs and unusual outcrops, while autumn draws photographers to the park's renowned fall colors. Anglers will find the lake active year-round: local marinas supply boat rentals, tackle and guides, and frequent tournaments chase species from panfish and walleye to bass that can reach 12 pounds; the nearby White River adds a world-class trout fishery to the mix. Birdwatchers and naturalists will appreciate the mix of developed and wild shorelines more than 100 bald eagles winter in the Bull Shoals area and a 1.5-mile nature trail starts right in the campground for short hikes and wildlife viewing. The campground itself contains 72 sites in total: 70 sites set up for both RVs and tents and 2 tent-only sites, and all sites include electric hookups. Practical facilities make multi-day stays easy hot showers, flush toilets, a dump station, a paved boat ramp, a designated swimming area, playground and two large group shelters are all on-site. Lakeview is a popular base for families, fishermen and boaters who want quick access to the lake's marinas and to the nearly 20 other public parks and numerous undeveloped coves around Bull Shoals; concession services such as boat rentals and guides are available at local marinas. The campground is open year-round; it's about 13 miles north of Mountain Home via State Routes 5 and 178 with access from Boat Dock Road. If you reserve a site, note the campground's cancellation policy: cancellations made up to two days before the reservation start date incur a $10 fee.
