“Quarts campground is clean, surrounded by beautiful mountains and next to the Kenai Lake. Highly recommended. You need to reserve well in advance as these sites sell-out fast.”
“Such an amazing campground! I wish it was easier to book! I feel people misuse the reservations a lot for this one”

Quartz Creek Campground sits at about 500 feet elevation just west of Cooper Landing, with most of its 44 sites arranged to take advantage of wide views across Kenai Lake. The ground is relatively flat and dotted with small spruce, so walking between spots is easy whether you're pitching a tent or backing in an RV all 44 sites accommodate both RVs and tents. Practical campsite amenities include a boat ramp for launching onto Kenai Lake, drinking water, flush toilets, picnic areas and parking spurs in the west loop; firewood is sometimes available for purchase on-site. Kenai Lake itself is long and deep more than 20 miles in length, roughly 500 feet deep and about 14,000 acres in area and several of the lake's remote campsites on islands (Ship Creek, Meadow Creek and Porcupine Island) are reachable by boat from Quartz Creek's launch. Anglers will find rainbow, lake trout and Dolly Varden in the lake, with rainbow and Dolly Varden moving into Quartz Creek later in summer; two miles east the lake becomes Kenai River, a world-renowned stretch for trophy trout and salmon, where outfitters and guides can assist with regulations and techniques. The campground is an easy base for a wide range of outdoor pursuits across Chugach National Forest hiking, biking, water sports, hunting and winter activities are all part of the region's appeal, and wildlife such as bears, moose, mountain goats and wolves inhabit the surrounding forests and rivers. Quartz Creek Road continues to Crescent Creek Campground and the six-mile Crescent Creek Trail to Crescent Lake (with a reservable public use cabin), and a salmon-viewing bridge nearby is a good spot from late July through September. For birding and marsh scenery, the Tern Lake Day Use Area has picnic tables, vault toilets and a salmon-viewing platform where arctic terns, trumpeter swans and many waterfowl are regularly observed. The Old Sterling Highway corridor provides OHV access and good wildlife viewing, while the longer Resurrection Pass Trail offers more ambitious multi-day hiking and biking. Specific fee, reservation and seasonal details aren't provided here call local information at (907) 522-8368 or (907) 288-3178 for current conditions, reservations and regulations; if you plan to go on the water, remember the lake is cold and conditions can change rapidly, so wear a life jacket and tell someone your plans.
