Nason Creek Campground sits in the Cascade foothills about 19 miles north of Leavenworth and roughly a mile south of Lake Wenatchee State Park, surrounded by old-growth forest that opens onto higher alpine country across the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The campground contains 69 sites in three loops North Loop (20 sites), South Loop (27 sites) and West Loop (22 sites) with 41 sites designated for both RVs and tents and 28 tent-only sites. Every site has a picnic table, metal fire ring and grill; restrooms on site have flush toilets and potable water is available at common-area spigots. Wildlife is common in the undeveloped surroundings, from deer and porcupines to migratory birds, and the area experiences warm, often sunny summers and snowy winters higher up in the forest. Staffing at the location is limited; for general information call (661) 702-1420. The campground functions well as a base camp for summer activities hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, swimming and fishing on nearby Lake Wenatchee and for winter pursuits such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Anglers head to Lake Wenatchee for rainbow and cutthroat trout and kokanee salmon, and several trailheads nearby let day hikers and backpackers piece together their own routes into the North Cascades. Nearby points of interest include Lake Wenatchee State Park, the Stevens Pass Historic District and the Stevens Pass Ski Area. Reservations and cancellations are managed through Recreation.gov: cancellations made up to two days before arrival incur a $10 fee; cancellations the day before or on arrival are charged a $10 service fee and forfeit the first night's fee (one-night reservations are forfeited entirely); no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night. Campsites will be held until check-out time on the day following the scheduled arrival date. Refund requests must be submitted within seven days after the reservation end date; refunds to cards are credited back to the original account, while refunds for cash or check purchases are issued by Treasury check and may take 6 8 weeks. In the event of an emergency closure, all fees will be refunded.
