“Huge private group site. Very nice and private. Imagine 4 camp sites all connected together with a bathroom.”

Grouse Creek Group Site sits where Grouse Creek meets the Chiwawa River, about seven miles up Forest Service Road 6200 (the Chiwawa River Road). You reach it by taking a gated spur on the left off the main paved road and following the spur to its end, where the single group site opens onto the creek. The surrounding part of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is a mix of glaciated peaks, old-growth valleys and shrub-steppe, so the setting can swing from sunny, low-elevation summer weather to clear, snowy winters. On a warm day you'll find hikers and anglers moving between the campground and nearby Wenatchee Lake (listed at 1,850 feet), where brook trout, cutthroat trout and both smallmouth and largemouth bass draw anglers; in winter the Wenatchee Ranger District supports skiing, snowmobiling, tubing and skijoring, with both motorized and non-motorized Sno-Parks providing access to groomed and natural trails. The area also brings wildlife viewing opportunities everything from migratory birds to pine marten and, higher in the district, mountain goats and long-distance trails such as the Pacific Crest Trail are accessible within the broader region, with North Cascades and Mount Rainier National Parks further afield. The campground is a single group facility (one site total) designed to host up to 50 guests and accepts both RVs and tents; facilities include picnic tables, campfire rings and accessible vault toilets. Because it is one group site, advance reservations are strongly recommended and handled through Recreation.gov; note the group cancellation policy cancellations made less than 14 days before arrival incur a $10 service fee and forfeit the first night's use fee and the no-show policy that assesses a $20 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's rate, taxes and applicable add-ons. Staff will generally hold a reserved site until check-out time on the day following your scheduled arrival. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days of your reservation's end date; card refunds return to the original account, while check or cash refunds are mailed as Treasury checks (which can take 6 8 weeks). This location has limited staffing, so for general information call (661) 702-1420 before you travel.
