“The location is wonderful but the yellowjacket bees can really get in the way of enjoying things, especially at meal time. I appreciate that there are now bee traps at each campsite but they don't seem to be making enough of a difference. ”

4905 ICICLE ROAD
Open in Google Maps ↗
Bridge Creek Group Site sits where Bridge Creek meets Icicle Creek in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, a short drive up Icicle River Road from the Leavenworth area off Highway 2. The single group campsite is designed for gatherings it accepts both RVs and tents and can hold up to 75 people and 35 vehicles and feels like a basecamp for river-side recreation. The Icicle provides cold, clear water for hardy swimmers and anglers; rainbow and brown trout are common in the deeper pools along the shore. Within easy reach are day- and multi-day hiking options, most notably the Fourth of July Trail, a 10.6-mile route that climbs from roughly 4,000 feet out of the trees onto open ridgelines with views toward the Stuart Range and Icicle Valley. For longer treks, the Pacific Crest Trail and adjoining wilderness areas offer access to high-country routes and terrain shaped by glaciers and volcanic remnants such as the Goat Rocks region. Facilities at the site are straightforward and aimed at groups: a single large site with picnic tables, a group campfire ring, potable water, and vault toilets. The campground has limited staffing; for general questions call (661) 702-1420. Reservations and fees are handled through Recreation.gov, and group reservation policies include a $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee for cancellations made fewer than 14 days before arrival. No-shows are charged a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate, taxes and any add-ons; refund requests must be submitted within seven days after the reservation end date and will be returned to the original payment method (card refunds credited directly, cash/check refunds issued by Treasury check and may take 6 8 weeks). In the event of an emergency closure all fees will be refunded and Recreation.gov or the facility manager will attempt to notify you. Summers tend to bring many warm, sunny days while winters bring clearer skies and significant snow at higher elevations, so plan timing and vehicle readiness accordingly.
