“A beautiful setting! Sites closest to the river have very little room between them. Sites further away offer more privacy. ”
“Great views and uncrowded. Weather was perfect. ”

Hunters Campground occupies a shady stand of Ponderosa pines along the northern shore of Lake Roosevelt, where steep, ice-age-carved rock walls define the upper Columbia River landscape. Although the campground itself does not offer direct lakefront views, a designated boat launch and a small beach sit inside the facility, making water access easy for swimmers and boaters; the launch is open year-round. The campground has 37 reservable sites each site is set up for both RVs and tents and includes a fire pit and you'll find drinking water and flush toilets available depending on the season. A campground host lives on site to answer questions, but the location is unstaffed administratively; for general information call the park office at (509) 754-7889. The site feels more remote than some other Lake Roosevelt campgrounds, with the tiny community of Hunters nearby, and is reached by following State Highways 2 and 25 northwest of Spokane (about a 70-mile drive). The campground draws hunters and anglers as well as families who come for boating, hiking and swimming. Hunting is permitted in certain areas of the park, and the lake supports a diverse fishery walleye, bass, rainbow trout and salmon are common, sturgeon are present and sturgeon fishing is allowed during a limited season so anglers will find plenty to target. Educational programs run periodically for visitors, and wildlife sightings are frequent: moose, elk and deer forage in the forests while osprey and bald eagles patrol the shoreline. Reservations are required through recreation.gov; peak season rates (May September) are $23 per night and off-season sites are $11.50 per night. All changes and cancellations must be handled through recreation.gov; cancelling the day before or on the day of arrival results in a $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee (a one-night reservation cancelled on arrival day forfeits the entire amount paid).
