“Great location along the river, but the toilets were pit toilets that stank a bit, and they were few and far between. Otherwise great campground.”

Little Naches Campground sits beside the Naches River in the northern reaches of the Cascades within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, where steep, glaciated ridgelines give way to mountain meadows and stands of mixed conifer and old-growth. The campground has 16 standard sites that are set up to accommodate both tents and RVs, so groups arriving with a tow vehicle or a small camper will find plenty of room, but be aware there are no electrical hookups. Basic services on site include vault toilets and a potable water spigot; there is limited staffing, so plan to be largely self-sufficient. The river is immediately accessible from the campground for wading, swimming and fishing, and paddlers looking for stronger water can arrange trips on the nearby American River. Summer is the most active season here, with long warm days for hiking and river play, though the forest supports a variety of year-round recreation across elevations that range widely through the Okanogan-Wenatchee. Trails radiate out from the Naches corridor: Frost Mountain Lookout Trail and Kaner Flat Trail offer straightforward forest-and-meadow walks, Boulder Cave National Recreation Trail provides an accessible riverside route with interpretive signs, and the Pacific Crest Trail is a major backbone of regional hiking if you want a longer day or overnight trek. Practical details to note before you go: there is an $8 fee for extra vehicles, and reservations and cancellations are handled through Recreation.gov cancellations made up to two days before arrival incur a $10 cancellation fee; cancelling the day before or the day of arrival triggers a $10 service fee and forfeiture of the first night's use fee (one-night reservations forfeit the full amount); no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night. Refund requests must be submitted within seven days after the reservation end date and will be returned to the original payment method (or by Treasury check for cash/check purchases). Because staffing is limited, if you need more information call (661) 702-1420 before you travel.
