Creek Pasture Campground sits along the banks of Indian Creek in the Indian Creek area of Bears Ears National Monument, a practical base for climbers, photographers and travelers wanting to visit the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. The campground contains 32 campsites in total, and all 32 are configured to accommodate both RVs and tents; each site includes a tent/trailer space, a picnic table, a fire ring and access to vault toilets, and is rated for up to 10 people and two vehicles. The creek itself is intermittent usually dry except in spring or after rain but cottonwood trees along the bank provide shade at some sites while a small sandstone cliff edges the west side of the loop. There is no drinking water or hookups and services are minimal: the Indian Creek area is generally primitive and undeveloped, so come prepared to be self-sufficient and pack out what you bring in. Access is via Utah State Route 211 off U.S. 191 (roughly a 27-mile drive from US-191 to the turn onto the natural-surface County Road 2382, then about 0.4 miles on that road to the campground). Individual campsites are first-come, first-served pay at the self-register kiosk on arrival using cash, check, or the Scan & Pay feature on the Recreation.gov mobile app (you must have the app installed prior to arrival to use Scan & Pay). The Creek Pasture Group Site can be reserved through Recreation.gov for larger parties; individual site reservations are not available and no refunds are issued. From the loop you're about 5 miles southeast of Canyonlands' Needles District and about 15 miles northwest of Newspaper Rock, with the surrounding landscape offering rock climbing on Wingate Sandstone cliffs, auto and OHV touring on designated routes, hiking, wildlife viewing, fishing and horseback riding for those who bring the gear. For campground-specific questions call (435) 587-1500.
