Windwhistle Group Site is a single walk-in group campsite set down at the lower end of the Canyon Rims campground where cliffs and narrow canyons enclose a small clearing in the red rock. The site is listed to accommodate both tent and RV use, but parking is limited and the approach is not suitable for large vehicles, motorhomes, pull campers or trailers plan to park and carry gear a short distance to the site and call the BLM Moab Field Office at 435-259-2100 if you have questions about vehicle limitations. Basic amenities are straightforward: a fire ring with a grate, picnic tables and a nearby vault toilet. There is no shade shelter, no electric hookups and no dump station; seasonal water is usually available from May through September. The group site is intended for up to 25 people and the current fee is $75 per stay. For outdoor activity, Windwhistle sits on the road toward the Needles Overlook and puts you close to a network of hiking, mountain biking and off-highway vehicle routes connected to the Needles District of Canyonlands and nearby Indian Creek climbing areas Wilson Arch, Ken's Lake and the La Sal Mountain Loop are all within easy driving distance. Reservations and changes are handled through Recreation.gov; note that changing reservation dates entirely outside your original booking carries a $10 change fee while shortening or extending within the original dates does not. Cancellations made online incur a $10 service fee; late cancellations (less than 14 days before arrival) also forfeit the first night's fee, and no-shows are assessed a $20 Recreation.gov service fee plus forfeiture of the first night. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov account within seven days of departure, and interagency pass discounts do not apply to group campsite reservations.
