“We stayed 2 nights. We couldn’t start a fire and weren’t notified beforehand. It was ok.”
“Twin lakes was a great place to camp. There were a lot of options for tents, it was very shaded, and quiet. The atv learner loop was also a big hit. We will definitely come back again”

Twin Lake Campground sits in a belt of juniper and low sage between the lower river bottom of Twelve Mile Canyon and the higher subalpine slope of Skyline Drive, framed by Flagstaff Limestone bluffs. The site is about 7 7.5 miles east of Mayfield, Utah, up Forest Development Road 22 into Twelve Mile Canyon, at roughly 7,000 feet elevation. That altitude means the campground opens earlier in spring and often stays warm later into the fall than higher alpine sites; mornings can be crisp and clear, afternoons comfortably warm, and the limestone cliffs give the area a distinct, slightly rugged feel rather than dense forest shade. The campground's practical layout and nearby trail network make it particularly useful for riders and anyone who wants quick access to backcountry routes. The official site listing shows three campsites total, and each of those sites is configured to accommodate both RVs and tents. Basic amenities include a campfire ring at each campsite and two regularly maintained vault toilets; there is no trash collection, so plan to pack out your refuse. Twin Lake also contains an off-road vehicle learner loop in the campground and serves as a staging point for the Arapeen OHV Trail System and the scenic Skyline Drive, while the broader Manti-La Sal National Forest offers hiking, fishing, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, winter sports, and interpretive programs. For current fees, seasonal closures and reservation options, check the Forest Service or Recreation.gov pages before you go.
