“We love this lake and campground. However the pond is beginning to feel over fished. Paddling on the canoe you used to be able to see hundreds of fish swimming around. And now it’s more like a free dozen. ”
“The campgrounds are well maintained, and beautiful. My only complaints are that the access road is full of potholes, and the outhouse was unbearable. ”

Perched at about 8,400 feet and sitting roughly five miles east of Ephraim along Forest Highway 8 in Ephraim Canyon, Lake Hill Campground spills down toward the small man-made Lake Hill Reservoir. The site count is small and straightforward: there are six campsites in total, all configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, and those include two designated group sites (GP1 and GP3) plus the remaining single-family sites clustered mostly below the lake. GP1 sits up the hillside where the lake itself isn't visible, while GP3 is right next to the water and offers the clearest views though campers should expect higher volumes of traffic and noise around GP3. Facilities are basic but functional: vault toilets and drinking water are available, and roads and parking spurs are dirt; no electrical or sewer hookups are listed, so plan for dry-camping needs and shorter, unpaved access. Recreation centers on the reservoir and the backcountry that surrounds it. Canoeing and rainbow trout fishing are popular right on the lake, while a mixed forest of spruce, fir and aspen provides partial shade at most sites and a good backdrop of summer wildflowers and wildlife. A network of trails nearby supports hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, and Ephraim Canyon is a gateway to the Arapeen OHV Trail System for ATV riders; the Jimmies Fork and Great Basin Experimental Trailheads are also within reach, and the self-guided Great Basin Experimental Range auto tour runs along the canyon. Because of the high elevation, temperatures are cooler than in the valley and seasonal access can change; check Manti-La Sal National Forest for current fees, reservation rules and seasonal closures before you go.
