“The picture shows a nice flat space, it is not. The only flat spot on this space is where the table is or where you park your car. There is a 45degree slope from the table area into the lower area. Great if you have a 2 man tent but nothing bigger.”
“ We have been coming to this spot for years. For the most part, a good time is had by all. The campground could use some updating and maintenance. ”
“We have a great time at Twelve Mile Flat Campground. The group site does accommodate our large group. It would be nice to have water available at the campground. Overall, we have a great time there.”

Twelve Mile Flat sits just below the ridgeline of the Wasatch Plateau at 10,120 feet, under the shadow of Mt. Baldy, occupying an open meadow punctuated with mature spruce and pine. Summer brings a broad display of wildflowers and regular wildlife sightings, and the surrounding aspen and conifer stands put on strong fall color. The campground offers 16 sites in total, each listed as suitable for both RVs and tents, plus two larger group sites that can each hold up to 50 people and eight vehicles, along with additional single-family sites. Amenities are rustic and straightforward: vault toilets are provided, roads and parking spurs are gravel, and there is no garbage service plan to pack out what you bring in. Because services and policies vary by season, check with the Manti-La Sal National Forest for current fees, reservation rules, vehicle-size limits and road conditions before you go. The setting opens directly onto a network of motorized and non-motorized recreation. ATV and other off-highway vehicle trails are abundant nearby and Skyline Drive runs just above the campground, a more than 60-mile route along the plateau that passes glacial cirques, spruce-fir and aspen forests, and many lakes and reservoirs. A short but steep drive over the ridge drops you to Ferron Reservoir, where canoeing and rainbow and cutthroat trout fishing are common draws. The broader Manti-La Sal National Forest supports biking, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, interpretive programs, visitor services and winter sports, so Twelve Mile Flat makes a convenient base for a wide range of outdoor pursuits. Access is by Forest Development Road 22 roughly 20 miles up Twelve Mile Canyon or about 31 miles up Ferron Canyon so plan for a high-elevation road trip and check conditions before heading in.
