“We had a great time at this campground and were very pleased with how scenic and beautiful landscape was. Saw lots of the wildlife and played in the river.”
“There was too much sun and water. The waves were too splashy and we were constantly having to stretch out to dry off after the waves washed over the bow. Would not recommend. Stay away!!!!!”

Split Mountain Group Campground sits at about 4,800 feet on a bench above the Green River, with the highly eroded Split Mountain rising directly across the water and Fremont cottonwoods and sagebrush dotting the campsites. The campground consists of four group sites each set up for both tents and RVs large enough to hold up to 25 people and six vehicles; every site has a picnic table and a campfire ring with a grill. There are no RV hookups and no on-site potable-fill for tanks, so RV travelers should arrive with full water or plan to resupply elsewhere. Drinking water and flush toilets are available seasonally from early April through early October; when the water system is shut down in colder months the campground operates on a Winter Walk-In rate of $6 per night, while whenever the water is on the standard nightly rate is $40. Reservations are subject to standard Recreation.gov policies: reserved sites are held only until check-out time on the day after your scheduled arrival (a no-show may incur a $20 service fee and forfeiture of fees), and refund requests must be made within 14 days of your scheduled departure. The campground's riverside location makes it a convenient base for paddling, fishing and multi-day rafting trips the Split Mountain boat ramp is adjacent to the campground and is the common take-out for Green River trips while miles of trails, scenic drives and cultural sites across Dinosaur National Monument offer hiking, wildlife viewing and a chance to see Fremont petroglyphs and homestead ruins. The Quarry Exhibit Hall in Jensen is nearby, where dinosaur bones remain encased in the rock, and the monument's two visitor centers (one in Utah, one in Colorado) provide maps and trip planning. Expect limited shade in the campground, primitive group-site spacing, and a straightforward, practical setup geared toward river groups and larger parties who want direct river access and easy day trips into the monument's geologic and cultural attractions.
