“This is a beautiful campground! If you have kids, there isnt a great beach for swimming or playing with kids. We found a better beach at the boat launch site near the green river campground. ”

Echo Park Campground sits directly beside the Green River inside Dinosaur National Monument, offering a simple, river-front base for paddling, fishing, hiking and wildlife watching. The loop contains 22 campsites in total: 18 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and four tent-only walk-in sites (numbered 18 21). Sites come with picnic tables; most have metal campfire rings, but the walk-in sites do not. Facilities are basic but practical vault toilets, seasonal drinking-water spigots, a self-pay station and a QR-code pay option for first-come, first-served sites and the group site and the walk-in sites include food-storage lockers. The group campsite is sited about 800 feet east of the individual loop on a bench above the river, where views open to surrounding canyon walls and Steamboat Rock. Access to Echo Park is remote: from the town of Dinosaur it's roughly a 40-mile drive over Harpers Corner and Echo Park roads and most visitors plan on about 90 minutes to reach the group site. The Echo Park Road requires high-clearance four-wheel drive and can become impassable in rain or snow, so trailers of any size are not recommended. Individual campsites are strictly first-come, first-served you must arrive in person to claim a site and can then pay using the Recreation.gov app (download before you go where cell service is spotty) or at the on-site pay station while the group site is reservable in advance. The monument area offers extensive recreation beyond the campground: auto tours and scenic drives, miles of trails and cultural sites including Fremont petroglyphs, the Quarry Exhibit Hall where dinosaur bones remain in the rock, and both commercial and permitted private rafting trips on the Yampa and Green Rivers. Take note of reservation policies: changes or cancellations incur a $10 service fee, late cancellations typically forfeit the first night's fee (with additional penalties for no-shows), and refund requests must be made within 14 days of your scheduled departure.
