We reserved the whole campground for our stake Young woman's camp out. Even with 104 girls and 32 leaders, there was plenty of room for everyone. We had a great time! The campground was clean and well maintained with plenty of shade and water spouts. We also utilized the large grassy area for games. Like it says in the description, the campground is bordered on 3 sides by the main road, but we weren't bothered too much by the traffic noise. There are only 2 vault bathrooms, but that wasn't a problem either and they were clean and stocked every night. (Thank you!) Also, because it's not too far up the canyon, it was easy to run down into Beaver of you forgot something. Overall it was a great experience.

About

Mahogany Cove sits in a grassy meadow along the Beaver Canyon Scenic Byway about 12 miles east of Beaver, Utah, at roughly 7,200 feet elevation. The campground is small there are two campsites that can accommodate both RVs and tents and the surrounding trees are a mixed stand of mahogany, pinyon, juniper and ponderosa that provide partial shade and frame views of the Tushar Range. Roads and parking spurs are gravel; drinking water and vault toilets are available on site, and the developed areas include picnic tables, grills and fire rings. A large play field inside the entrance gives kids room to run, and an overlook just outside the campground opens onto a wide view down Beaver Canyon. Reservations for the site are posted in advance at the campground; when a reservation doesn't cover the whole area, individual sites may be used on a first-come, first-served basis, so it's wise to check ahead in busy months. Recreation is concentrated nearby rather than inside the campground itself. The Beaver River is a short drive below the site and is a popular place to fish for rainbow and brook trout; beyond that, the Beaver Canyon Scenic Byway offers a 17-mile drive through the Tushar Mountains with easy access to numerous lakes and streams for additional fishing, boating and canoeing. Hikers and mountain bikers will find trails and backcountry options in the surrounding forest, and hunting, horseback riding and wildlife viewing are common activities across Fishlake National Forest. Because the campground is located directly on SR-153, it's an easy stopping point for people passing the canyon who want a simple base for river fishing, day trips into the Tushars, or a quiet night under high-elevation pines.
