“We love staying at Live Oak. It is conveniently near town but still the lake campsite atmosphere. The campsites are always ready for us when we pull in.... nice and cleaned. Bathrooms are always clean. Nice walk to the lake. ”
“Lovely campground. Nice trees. Good spacing between sites.”

Live Oak Ridge Campground sits along the shores of Belton Lake and lives up to its name with many large live oaks shading flat, grassy sites. The campground has 48 campsites in total; every site is set up to accommodate both RVs and tents and includes water and electric hookups plus a covered table and grill. Several sites look out over the lake and others are only a short walk away; restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers, a dump station, a playground, and a group meeting area round out the amenities you'll find inside the campground. The facility is open year-round, and spring brings broad swaths of wildflowers across the park; there's also a man-made wetland nearby that adds about 25 acres of additional habitat on the lake for wildlife viewing. Recreation at Live Oak Ridge ties directly into Belton Lake's 12,300 acres and 136 miles of shoreline: there's a two-lane boat ramp for launching, good fishing and water-sports opportunities, and hiking access to Miller Springs Nature Area below Belton Dam, where a Leon River trail, a restored historic bridge and several wildlife-viewing points await. Birders commonly see hawks, great blue herons, ducks, geese, numerous songbirds, bobwhite quail, Rio Grande turkey and the occasional bald eagle; the spillway wall of Belton Dam bears a mural that depicts Bell County history, and Fort Hood lies adjacent with several points of interest for military history enthusiasts. Nearby historical sites include the old "Charter Oak" on the Leon River and the Stage Coach Inn in Salado. For facility-specific information fees, reservations and the latest access details call the park at (254) 742-3050; the campground is about 11 miles west of I-35 via FM 2305 (West Adams Ave.) and then on FM 2271 (Morgan's Point Road), adjacent to the dam and spillway.
