“Very quiet and peaceful campground. Nice hiking trails through interesting coastal forest. No beach access. The campsites are nicely spaced. Some are level and some are difficult to use with an RV because they are quite a bit off level. ”
“We love Sutton campground! It’s the perfect base to go north to beaches or south to Florence for shopping and restaurants.”

Sutton Campground sits just inland from Oregon's Pacific shoreline, about six miles north of Florence on Highway 101, and offers a forested basecamp for exploring nearby beaches, dunes and a small coastal lake. The campground contains 80 campsites in total all configured to accommodate both RVs and tents arranged across four loops (Loop A has 24 sites, Loop B 32 sites, Loop C 12 sites and Loop D 12 sites). You'll find single-family sites and larger group sites for overnight stays or day-use picnicking; some individual sites offer electrical hookups. Each campsite has a picnic table and a campfire ring, and the campground is served by flush toilets and drinking water. The setting is a mix of coastal pine, Douglas-fir and spruce with understory of wax myrtle and huckleberry, placing you in the Siuslaw National Forest landscape that slopes from the coastal mountains down toward the Oregon Dunes and the ocean. Recreation at Sutton centers on trail access and water activities: a network of trails leads toward Alder Dunes and Sutton Lake, passing wild berry patches, bright rhododendrons and small sand dune formations, and swimming is popular in nearby Sutton Creek. Sutton Lake, about two miles away, supports boating and fishing for yellow perch, largemouth bass, cutthroat trout and stocked rainbow trout; a public boat ramp is also roughly two miles from the campground. One mile west, the Holman Vista Day Use Area and trail provide an accessible platform for wide ocean views and sunset watching. The campground is also a convenient jumping-off point for the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (about 15 minutes to the south), where 40 miles of shifting sand invite off-highway vehicle use as well as accessible trails and beach access; other nearby sites within about 10 miles include Darlingtonia State Natural Site, Heceta Beach, Sea Lion Caves and old town Florence. Fees, reservation policies and seasonal availability are not specified here, so check with the Siuslaw National Forest for current requirements; the broader forest offers many activities including biking, horseback riding, interpretive programs, OHV use, visitor centers and wildlife viewing.
