Turkey Creek Park sits on the western shore of Pine Creek Lake where the Little River drops into the reservoir, offering a quiet stretch of hardwood and pine forest at the edge of the Ouachita Mountains. Pine Creek Lake covers about 3,750 acres and offers roughly 74 miles of shoreline, a high shoreline-to-water ratio that supports strong fish populations; anglers here routinely catch crappie, white bass, largemouth bass, channel and flathead catfish, and a variety of sunfish. The forested surroundings and managed trails in the larger project area provide opportunities for hiking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing, and the campground's boat ramp makes it an easy launching point for boating and other water sports. If you want to combine a short drive with more to explore, Beavers Bend and Raymond Gary state parks are within reach and the historic Fort Towson ruins lie nearby. Turkey Creek is a deliberately small campground with 30 reservable campsites all 30 sites will accommodate both RVs and tents and eight of those sites include electric hookups. Amenities at the campground itself are straightforward: a day-use picnic shelter, a playground, a boat ramp, and flush toilets. Because sites are reservable, plan ahead, especially during peak season, and check the managing agency's website or phone line for current fees, reservation procedures and seasonal availability before you go. The combination of limited hookups, a compact footprint, easy water access and abundant shoreline fishing makes Turkey Creek a good choice for anglers, paddlers and families looking for a quieter base on Pine Creek Lake.
