North Abutment Campground sits at the north end of Grenada Dam on Grenada Lake, a man-made reservoir on the Yalobusha and Skuna Rivers with roughly 148 miles of shoreline. The campground contains 88 RV site pads; each site has a parking apron and 50-amp electric and water hookups, and campsites #2 88 are equipped with sewer hookups. All sites are reservable through recreation.gov, with payment collected in full at booking and a $10.00 non-refundable online reservation fee that may apply for some facilities; changes or cancellations are subject to a $10.00 service fee. Boat ramps are located just outside the campground for easy lake access, and Phase 1 includes an amphitheater for programs and events. Note the lake's seasonal behavior: several campsites face open water from May through August, but winter drawdown for water storage can push the shoreline as far as a mile from the campground. Recreation at North Abutment combines on-the-water options with nearby developed amenities and historic sites. The small 17-acre lake inside the campground has a sandy swimming beach and is regularly stocked with bream, largemouth bass, and catfish for campers, while Grenada Lake supports boating, sailing, and large-lake fishing. Around the lake you'll also find a visitor center, fitness trail, tennis courts, a sports complex with baseball fields, and an 18-hole golf course; the wider project lands include Civil War redoubts and host periodic reenactments. Each June the Thunder on Water festival brings concerts, a youth fishing rodeo, tractor pulls and fireworks, and the Haserway Wetland Demonstration Area about a short drive from the campground offers a 1.5-mile interpretive trail through managed wetland habitats. The campground is easily reached from I-55 via the Grenada exit and Scenic Loop 333 and is roughly five miles from the city of Grenada; for facility-specific information call (662) 226-1679.
