Outlet Park sits just downstream from the Pomme de Terre Dam where the river narrows out of the deep, clear waters of Pomme de Terre Lake locally known as the "Gem of the Ozarks." The campground is set in the rugged, tree-topped hills of west-central Missouri, where the Pomme de Terre River (notably one of the few north-flowing rivers in the state) threads through hardwoods and provides a steady backdrop of water and wildlife. All 21 campsites at Outlet Park are configured to serve both RVs and tents, and the park's facilities include hot showers, a boat ramp, group camping space, multiple playgrounds, a multipurpose playing court, a softball/baseball field, horseshoe pits, and a three-mile walking trail that begins at the park and continues as the Healthy Active Community Running River Trail. Recreational options are straightforward and family friendly: the river and downstream channels are popular for canoeing and kayaking (Anglers Resort, nearby, handles canoe rentals), the boat ramp opens access for broader boating and water sports on the lake, and anglers often fish for crappie and bass in the adjacent waters. The park also supports picnicking, wildlife viewing, environmental-education activities and organized sports on the court and ball field. Outlet Park is a few miles south of Hermitage and is reached by following Highway 254 to the dam area, then crossing the dam and taking the paved road down to the campground; for current fees, reservation policies and seasonal availability, check the park or Pomme de Terre Lake website or call the park office before you go. Nearby attractions include the dirt track in Wheatland, additional local trails and a golf course, making the area convenient for a mix of day trips and overnight stays.
