“Overall it's a really nice campground. The only issues I really ever experience is other campers that are inconsiderate. People allowing their dogs to bark at 4:00 in the morning and racing remote control cars up and down the roadway near other people's vehicles and people.”
“Had a great weekend. Not too hot, not too cold. ”

Ruark Bluff West sits along the western shore of Stockton Lake in the Ozark foothills, a shady campground framed by rolling hills, patches of native prairie grass and stands of hardwoods that turn vivid in autumn. The campground opens onto one of the lake's many coves and makes water access straightforward: a boat ramp and small beach lie just outside the park entrance, and the lake's nearly 300 miles of shoreline create plenty of pockets for sailing, paddle sports and quiet coves for angling. Stockton is a popular place for sailboat races, and anglers will find a healthy mix of smallmouth and largemouth bass, crappie, white bass, walleye, catfish and sunfish. Trails skirt the shoreline and back into the hills, and the Stockton Lake Equestrian Trail runs about 15 miles between Hawker Point and Orleans trail campgrounds for riders looking to combine camping with long days on horseback. Wildlife is part of the experience here too you'll commonly see herons, wild turkey and deer, and the area hosts a winter eagle-watching event that highlights the resident bald eagles. On the practical side, Ruark Bluff West contains 67 campsites that accommodate both RVs and tents, and many of those sites offer electric hookups; showers and a dump station are available within the park. A boat ramp is provided for launching, and several full-service marinas around the lake supply fuel, groceries and tackle if you need provisions. The campground's shady sites sit off State Highway H north of Greenfield (roughly a six-mile drive north on H before the park access road), making it an easy stop for travelers through southwestern Missouri. Fees, reservation options and seasonal openings vary, so plan to check with the park office or managing agency for current rates, reservation policies and any access notices before you go.
