“My husband is a deseable veteran and the ground was uneven and a lot of potholes dangerous for a fall, so we left after the first night, so we will not come back n we don’t like the fact that we don’t get a refund….”

Crabtree Cove sits on the wooded shores of Stockton Lake in the Missouri Ozarks, about 3.5 miles east of the town of Stockton on State Highway 32. The campground's 55 campsites are all set up to accommodate both RVs and tents, and are arranged in two loops Loop A with 42 sites and Loop B with 13 spread among rolling hills, native prairie grasses and stands of hardwood that shade many sites. Most sites offer electric hookups, and the campground provides showers, flush toilets and a dump station so you can stay comfortable while enjoying the outdoors. A park boat ramp gives direct access to the lake from the campground; three full-service marinas around Stockton Lake are nearby for fuel, boat rentals, fishing tackle and lakeside dining, and there are privately owned lodges and resorts on the lake if you prefer a room to a campsite. For up-to-date fees, reservation windows and seasonal availability, check the official park website or call the managing agency before you go. Recreation at Crabtree Cove centers on the water and the trails that skirt it. Boating and sailboat racing are popular on Stockton's nearly 300 miles of shoreline, and anglers will find smallmouth and largemouth bass, crappie, white bass, walleye, catfish and sunfish in the lake. Several hiking routes run along the shore and through the surrounding hills, and the Stockton Lake Equestrian Trail continues roughly 15 miles between Hawker Point and Orleans Trail campgrounds for horseback riders. Wildlife is abundant watch for great blue herons, wild turkeys, deer and wintering bald eagles; the park hosts an eagle-watching event during the winter months. In short, Crabtree Cove is a practical, well-serviced base for boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing on Stockton Lake.
