Orleans Trail Campground sits in the shady oak-and-hickory country along Stockton Lake in the Missouri Ozarks, an area of rolling hills, native prairie grasses and thick forest that supports abundant wildlife deer, wild turkey, great blue heron and wintering bald eagles are commonly seen along the shore. Stockton Lake's nearly 300 miles of shoreline make it a mecca for water recreation: sailboat racing is popular here and the campground provides a concrete boat ramp for launching, plus a sandy swimming beach on the north loop. Anglers will find smallmouth and largemouth bass, crappie, white bass, walleye, catfish and sunfish in the lake, and several hiking routes thread the lakeshore; an equestrian trail runs roughly 15 miles between Hawker Point and Orleans Trail and the south portion of the campground includes a trailhead where horses can be kept. A small marina nearby (Orleans Trail Marina) offers additional services for boaters and visitors who want full-hookup marina conveniences beyond what the park provides. The campground has 61 sites total; each is listed as suitable for both RVs and tents, and the park is organized into north and south sections that concentrate different amenities. Orleans Trail North contains the showers and the swimming beach along with non-electric sites, while Orleans Trail South has non-electric individual sites, a group camping area and the equestrian facilities. Park restroom infrastructure includes three shower houses and there are two dump stations on site for RV users. Activities available in the area include boating, camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, playground use, water sports and wildlife viewing; the campground also supports other concession services nearby. Fees, reservation windows and seasonal availability are not included here, so plan to check the park's official reservation system or contact the park office for current rates and to confirm site availability and any access requirements before you go. The campground is a short drive south of Stockton on State Highway 39; follow local park signage to the Orleans Trail area.
