“Spots are nice and not crammed together. Beautiful views of the lake! The other campers are respectful and quiet. We loved our stay. They do need to fix a door in the women’s shower so that it shuts. It’s been that way for over a year. ”
“Great view of lake and access to bath rooms and showers. Plenty of space between sites. Saw an Eagle catching a fish right where we were camping. Lovely time!”
“very nice campground on fishing and sailing lake - not too busy as some lakes are”

Ruark Bluff East sits on the shore of Stockton Lake in the rolling hills of the Missouri Ozarks, a shady campground that opens onto nearly 300 miles of lake shoreline framed by native prairie grasses and mixed hardwood forest that flashes crimson in autumn. The site offers 83 campsites in total: 69 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 14 tent-only sites, spread among campsites shaded by oaks and hickories. Practical facilities include two shower houses, a dump station, an accessible fishing dock, a picnic area, a playground and a swimming beach; a boat ramp and beach are located just outside the shared entrance for Ruark Bluff East and West, making water access immediate for launching small powerboats or sailboats. Wildlife viewers will find a lot to watch here year-round deer, wild turkey and great blue heron are common, and bald eagles are a winter attraction with an annual eagle-watching event. Recreation at Stockton Lake is wide-ranging: boating and sailing are popular (the lake hosts several sailboat races each year), fishing for species such as small- and largemouth bass, crappie, white bass, walleye, catfish and sunfish is good from shore or boat, and trails around the shoreline support hiking and access to a 15-mile Stockton Lake Equestrian Trail that links Hawker Point and Orleans Trail campgrounds for riders. Several full-service marinas around the lake supply gas, groceries and tackle for longer trips. Reservations can be made through recreation.gov or by phone (1-877-444-6777) and the park attendant accepts cash and cards for walk-ins; note there is a $10 cancellation fee for all reservations and a $10 fee for date changes, though changes made within the original reservation dates carry no extra charge. To reach Ruark Bluff East, head north from Greenfield on State Highway H for roughly 6 miles and follow signs onto the park access road.
