Verbatim from guest reviews on Recreation.gov ↗ (3 reviews, ★ 5.0). Not written or edited by us.
“Great campground! It was secluded and quiet, and the campsites were large and very scenic. Misc notes: - Verizon had good service, and AT&T had some - The water was a well pump which was difficult to operate as one person, but not a deal breaker”
“Quiet rustic campground with huge campsites with plenty of space between. ”

Three Lakes Campground sits off Forest Road 3142, about two miles south of Strongs Corner and roughly 2.5 miles from the small town of Strongs, on a low-lying strip of land between Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. The site is framed by stands of pine, spruce and maple and lies between Whitmarsh, Brown and Walker Lakes to the north, south and west. The campground is intentionally simple: there are 10 single-family campsites, each set up to accommodate both tents and RVs and furnished with a picnic table and a metal campfire ring. Facilities are basic but serviceable vault toilets and a drinking water source are available, and a day-use picnic area sits near the carry-down boat ramp. Because the campground is described as rustic and tucked away from major roads, expect limited on-site services; check with Hiawatha National Forest for current fees, reservation rules and seasonal openings before you go. Outdoor opportunities are concentrated on the three small lakes and the short Walker Loop Trail. The lakes are open only to non-motorized boating and the campground's picnic-area ramp is a carry-down launch convenient for canoes or kayaks; anglers come for rainbow trout, perch and catfish. There's no designated swimming beach, but sandy stretches along the shores provide informal spots for wading and sunning. Walkers can follow the easy, 1.15-mile Walker Loop Trail that starts near the picnic area and skirts Walker Lake, and the quiet setting makes wildlife viewing and birdwatching rewarding in the mornings and evenings. Beyond the campground, Hiawatha National Forest supports a wider range of recreation biking, horse camping, interpretive programs, water sports and even overnight stays in fire lookouts or cabins so you can combine a short, self-contained lakeside stay here with longer explorations elsewhere in the forest.
