“ Beautiful trail from the campground. Very quiet and peaceful. ”
“I reserved and paid for a site thru rec.gov, they gave me site #9, and after driving 45 miles to get there, I found out there are only 8 sites there. No #9! No refund. No help. Drove 20+ miles and boondocked in the woods. Be cautious when using rec.gov. ”

Little Beaver Campground is a very small, woodsy site on the shore of Little Beaver Lake about 20 miles northeast of Munising, reached by a narrow, twisting access road a few miles north of Alger County Road H-58. The campground contains eight drive-in campsites each set up to accommodate both RVs and tents and one of those sites is wheelchair accessible. Sites are compact, so RV and trailer users should measure their length, width, and height against the campsite dimensions before booking; generators are restricted in parts of the campground, and pets are not allowed. These sites are rustic: there are no electric, water, or sewer hookups, but each site comes with a picnic table, a fire ring with grill grate, and a tent pad. Vault toilets and park well water are available, and as a reminder, tent-style enclosures for portable campsite toilets are strictly prohibited. Cell phone reception is typically limited, so plan accordingly. Outdoor opportunities start right at the loop. A small boat ramp on Little Beaver Lake allows launch of boats using electric motors only (Little Beaver and nearby Beaver Lake lie within the Beaver Basin Wilderness), and anglers and paddlers can work from the shoreline. Two close trails give quick access to the larger lakeshore: the Little Beaver Nature Trail (about a 1.0-mile loop) winds through the immediate forest, and a 1.5-mile trail leads out to Lake Superior and connects with the North Country Trail for longer hikes. If you want guided experiences or larger-boat excursions on Lake Superior, authorized companies in the national lakeshore run kayak and boat tours and nearby towns offer pontoon and other boat rentals. All campsites are reservation-only at $25 per night; holders of a Senior Pass or Access Pass receive a 50% discount if that is entered when making the reservation. Check the official reservation site for seasonal availability and any access advisories before you go.
