“It was secluded and sights were roomy and private. Not having cell service was inconvenient. The access to water was sketchy. No dump station should have been listed somewhere on the web sight.”
“Great campground, friendly people, great beach.”
“Lovely, private wooded sites. One of our favorites of the year!”

Camp Seven Lake Campground sits beside a 60-acre lake in the lower third of the Hiawatha National Forest in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, an area defined by mixed hardwoods and numerous inland lakes. The site offers 39 campsites in total, and every one is laid out to accommodate both tent camping and RVs; most sites are shaded and private, and several back right onto the water. Each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring (only a few have grills), and the campground provides accessible vault toilets and a drinking-water source. There is also a group picnic area with space for up to 25 people that includes tables, a campfire circle and a grill. A portion of the sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis; for up-to-date reservation rules, fees and seasonal openings check the Hiawatha National Forest or recreation.gov before you travel. Recreation at Camp Seven Lake is water-centered: the lake has a swim area, room for small boats and a good reputation with anglers chasing smallmouth bass, bluegills and perch. The beach includes a paved walking trail for an easy stroll, while a nearby 2-mile Van Winkle Lake loop leads through a paper birch stand and along wetlands where waterfowl and other wetland wildlife are often seen. Beyond the immediate campground, the Hiawatha National Forest offers a broader palette of activities hiking, biking, horseback camping, interpretive programs, water sports, wildlife viewing, and even overnight use of fire lookouts or cabins in other areas so Camp Seven Lake works well as either a quiet lakeside basecamp or a jumping-off point for exploring the forest and nearby communities. The campground is reached roughly 8 miles east of Forest Highway 13 (the route between US-2 and M-28) and County Road 442; the town of Garden Corners on Lake Michigan is about 20 miles away if you want supplies or a shoreline visit.
