“I find this campground to be very quiet and peaceful especially because it is not right on the water. There are above average amount of mosquitoes just because of the tree coverage. Overall I find this campground to be very usable.”
“We were a little disappointed with this camping trip. The grass was SO long. The kids were uncomfortable playing in the grass because of the length. The area seemed very neglected compared to past trips to this location. ”
“The campsites were beautiful. Nice calm, the dogs and kids could play in the yards of the two sites that we had rented. Perfectly shaded sites to where you could enjoy being outside. ”

Carbolyn Park sits along Dragoon Creek on the eastern edge of Pomona Lake, a 4,000-acre reservoir set in the rolling hills and mixed grasslands of eastern Kansas. The campground contains 26 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents, and the layout is heavily shaded by woodlands that fringe the creek a quiet, sheltered feel that makes it popular with families, anglers and small groups. Onsite amenities include flush and vault toilets, a shower building, a playground for kids, a picnic shelter and a dump station; a boat ramp and numerous bank-fishing areas put the lake within easy reach. Corps of Engineers rangers and the local sheriff patrol the area during the recreation season, and a visitor center a short drive away offers educational displays about the lake's wildlife and watershed. Beyond the campground itself, Pomona Lake offers a broad mix of outdoor pursuits. Boating, water sports and fishing (crappie, walleye and channel catfish among them) are the draw on the water, while several nearby trails provide options for shorter nature walks and longer outings: Deer Creek Nature Trail and Witches' Broom Trail are short, interpretive paths, and the Black Hawk Trail is a 33-mile loop used for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. Wildlife viewing is productive here bald eagles, white-tailed deer, Canada geese and wild turkey are regularly seen and the small town of Lyndon is less than ten miles away for basic services and a few local historic sites. Fees, reservation rules and seasonal availability are managed by the Corps of Engineers; call the Pomona Lake visitor center or check the Corps website for current rates and campsite reservation options before you go.
