“Love this little spot, this is the second time we’ve stayed here, small but love that because it’s always been quiet!! Don’t even see the other campers!”
“Wonderful camp ground in the Gem state. Recommend hiking the Weiser river trail. Lots of shade in spot 12.”

Evergreen Campground sits on the east side of Highway 95 between Council and New Meadows, roughly 14 miles north of Council or 12 miles southwest of New Meadows, at about 4,000 feet elevation. The site is compact 12 campsites in total with nine sites designed for both RVs and tents and three tent-only sites; single- and double-family layouts are offered and most sites are accessible. The campground road system is gravel while individual parking spurs are paved, and basic amenities include vault toilets and drinking water. Because the campground is so close to the highway, the surrounding stand of Douglas fir and spruce does a good job of buffering traffic noise and giving each site a green, shaded feel. Payment may be handled on-site using the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature if that option is enabled; download the free Recreation.gov app before you arrive, since cell service can be limited in the area. The Weiser River flows between the campground and the highway and is a local focus for recreation anglers can fish for rainbow trout right off the riverbank, and the Weiser River Trail passes through the site, providing immediate access for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. Beyond the campground itself, Payette National Forest supports a wide range of outdoor pursuits from auto touring and wildlife viewing to horse camping, OHV use, boating, swimming and winter sports so Evergreen can be a quiet basecamp for day trips into the forest. For up-to-date information on fees, seasonal openings and any reservation options, check Recreation.gov before you go.
