“Enjoyed the stay. Very nice campground, good views, tidy and well cared for...EXCEPT there were no lights in the bathrooms, nor were there paper towels or hand soap. Never encountered this before anywhere.”
“I wish the signage for the water was better. It just points off towards the lake. Site was clean. The site I chose wasn’t great for a tent bc it wasn’t level but other sites were more level. I’ll make sure to pick one of those next time.”
“Clean campsite, toilets were working (not replaced with port-a-potties as some other reviews posted), very nice place to hang out for two days ”

Perched on the shore of Dillon Reservoir just south of Frisco, Peak One Campground sits against the sweep of Swan Mountain and the sharper ridgelines of the Gore and Tenmile ranges, with clear water and open sky replacing the dense shade that once sheltered the loops hazard trees removed after a pine beetle outbreak mean many sites now have little or no shade. The campground contains 77 sites that accept both tents and RVs, so you'll find everything from compact tent pitches to level pull-throughs for trailers and motorhomes; there are no electrical hookups, however. Picnic tables, metal campfire rings, flush toilets and a drinking water supply are provided throughout the loops, and hosts sell firewood on site. If you need to launch a boat you'll use the marinas in nearby Frisco or Dillon rather than a ramp inside the campground. Access is straightforward from I-70: take the Frisco exit (203) and head south on Highway 9 toward the Peninsula Recreation Area, following local signs about one to two miles to Peak One (the campground entrance is a short distance south of the Frisco Peninsula area). Be aware that once your reservation start date has begun neither Recreation.gov nor the campground manager can modify your reservation; fees and seasonal availability are posted on Recreation.gov. The reservoir is the reason most people come: Dillon Reservoir (often called Lake Dillon) covers 3,233 acres with about 26.8 miles of shoreline, offering plentiful boating, sailing and year-round fishing for rainbow and brown trout, with cutthroat trout occasionally entering from feeder streams. On land, you're close to a network of trails and paved shoulders more than seven miles of the local, paved Summit County trail system pass nearby and short walks like the Old Dillon Reservoir trail provide easy routes with strong views of the Tenmile Range and the Continental Divide; that trail also has a touch of local history, tracing the shoreline of the earlier reservoir that supplied the original town of Dillon. Peak One places you within the larger White River National Forest experience elk and bighorn sheep are common in surrounding country, alpine species like pika and ptarmigan live at higher elevations, and nearby ski areas (Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, Breckenridge and Copper Mountain) are all within roughly ten miles and support winter-sport activities year-round. Additional opportunities in the forest include auto touring, biking, horseback riding, OHV routes, visitor centers and interpretive programs, so Peak One is a practical base for a wide range of mountain recreation rather than a remote backcountry outpost.
