West Lake Campground sits at about 8,200 feet among ponderosa pines on the shore of a 25-acre, no-wake lake, offering a compact but varied camping footprint: 35 sites in total, of which 30 can accommodate both RVs and tents and 5 are tent-only. Each site includes a tent pad, picnic table and a campfire ring with grill; vault toilets and drinking water are available within the campground, and firewood may be gathered in the forest or purchased from the campground host. The forest has had mountain pine beetle activity and some hazardous trees have been removed, so shade is thinner in places, and campers should be prepared for afternoon thunderstorms during the spring and summer months. Because details such as fees, reservation rules, hookup availability and seasonal opening dates are not provided here, plan to confirm those specifics with the Arapaho & Roosevelt National Forests office or on recreation.gov before arrival. The lake is the focal point for paddling and fishing no-wake canoeing is common and anglers fish for rainbow and lake trout and several additional small lakes are nearby. Trails thread the surrounding hills: the short West Lake Trail (about 1.5 miles) and the roughly 4-mile Mount Margaret Trail are immediate options, and numerous hiking, biking and horseback routes, plus off-highway vehicle trails within about five miles, expand exploration opportunities. The small village of Red Feather Lakes lies a short drive away and provides limited dining, shops, a general store, post office and a visitor center; the campground is located roughly 48 miles northwest of Fort Collins, beyond Livermore along County Road 74 toward the Red Feather Lakes area. For broader regional options auto touring, winter sports, wildlife viewing, interpretive programs, hunting and more consult maps and current trail or road conditions through the forest service, since many activities are spread across the Arapaho & Roosevelt National Forests and the Pawnee area rather than confined to the campground itself.
