Bellaaire Lake Campground sits about 47 miles northwest of Fort Collins, just beyond the south side of the small Red Feather Lakes community at roughly 8,600 feet. The campground occupies rolling hills of pine and scatterings of distinctive rock outcrops, and it's within easy walking distance of the 10-acre, no-wake Bellaire Lake via an accessible boardwalk. The lake is a clear focal point for quiet paddling and angling rainbow and brook trout are commonly targeted and several other small lakes are within easy driving distance. For day trips and longer outings the surrounding Arapaho & Roosevelt National Forest offers a dense network of trails: the 1.25-mile Molly Lake Trail and the 4-mile Mount Margaret Trail are nearby, and there are riding, biking and multiple off-road vehicle routes within about five miles. Wildlife viewing and visits to the Red Feather Visitor Center are easy additions to a stay here; note that afternoon thunderstorms are common in spring and summer and that recent hazard-tree removal has left portions of the campground with little shade. The campground contains 26 sites (the reservation system lists them as both RV and tent sites) and provides a mix of accessible single, double and triple family sites with electric hookups; the development description also notes five sites designated for tent camping without hookups. Each campsite includes a tent pad, picnic table and a campfire ring with grill; potable water, flush and vault toilets are available on site. Dead and downed wood may be gathered from the forest for campfires, or purchased from the campground host. Practicalities to remember: vehicles with RVs are accommodated, reservations are managed through NRRS, and a $10 service fee applies to reservation changes or cancellations (late cancellations may incur additional charges see the NRRS Reservation Policy for details). The nearby village of Red Feather Lakes offers limited dining, a general store, gift shops, a library, a post office and a golf course if you need supplies or a meal outside the campground.
