Pulver Mountain Group Site is managed as a single reservable group campsite (total campsites: 1) that functions like a small compound for gatherings. The central feature is a large pavilion with six moveable tables and a substantial communal campfire ring; within the fenced group area you'll find six individual guest spaces, each with a stationary table and its own campfire ring, plus a private activity field on the west side (access to that field is by foot only). Practical amenities include a double-stall vaulted restroom and firewood service provided by a roaming host based at nearby Round Mountain Campground. Both RV and tent use are allowed at the site (site type: both RV sites & tent sites); for current fees, reservation procedures, seasonal availability or any facility-specific questions, call (661) 702-1420. Note that the site sits on relatively flat ground covered in natural grasses and scattered pines, so groups can pick sun or shade as they prefer, and the layout is well suited to multi-family camps, small events, or organized outings. The campground sits south of Highway 24 in the Pike and San Isabel/Cimarron-Comanche complex, roughly between Lake George and Wilkerson Pass (near mile markers 257 258); turn onto Forest Service Road 861 and follow the short dirt approach to the gate. Recreation options extend well beyond the group site: Eleven Mile Canyon and its historic Midland Railroad railbed follow the South Platte River for nine miles and are known locally for rock climbing, kayaking and trout fishing; Eleven Mile Reservoir (state park) is at the canyon's east end. About 45 minutes north, Jefferson Lake offers wildlife viewing, hiking and hand-launched boating and drains toward Tarryall Reservoir, another frequent fishing destination. Off-road riding is available immediately outside the site's southern gate, while Badger Flats to the north opens into broad sub-alpine country and old ranching sites (OHV vehicles must be trailered to and from the site). The broader forest and grassland unit supports a wide range of activities biking, climbing, horseback riding and wildlife viewing among them and users should be aware that unmanned aircraft (drones) are regulated on Forest Service lands and must be flown in accordance with current Forest Service rules.
