“Loved the spot. There were beautiful views at the entrance of the campground and gorgeous hiking trails nearby as well. Would recommend anyone to check out. ”
“We loved this area. Campsites were very close together though. Kinda felt like camping with neighbors. Still was very pretty and a great area to explore”

Echo Lake Campground sits at about 10,600 feet in a spruce forest beside its namesake lake at the base of Mount Evans, offering immediate access to alpine scenery and the steep grades of Mount Evans Road (Colorado Highway 5). Several trails begin right from the campground, making it easy to step onto routes into the Mount Evans Wilderness for day hikes, and anglers can fish in Echo Lake. The setting is open to wildlife viewing and seasonal scenic driving the stretch of road up Mount Evans rises from roughly 10,500' to 14,130' in 14 miles, so many visitors combine a campground stay with a high-elevation drive. Nearby Idaho Springs and the Argo Gold Mine and Mill Museum provide a taste of local history, and Echo Lake Lodge and Denver Mountain Park lands sit adjacent to the campground for additional short walks and outings. The campground contains 17 total sites: 12 that accommodate both RVs and tents, 1 RV-only site, and 4 tent-only sites; each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring. Basic facilities are provided vault toilets, hand pumps with potable water, and trash service but there are no hookups, so RV visitors should plan accordingly. Because of the elevation and its position on a mountain pass, nights are cool to chilly even in summer and conditions can be windy, so warm clothing and sturdy tents or well-prepared RVs are recommended. Check with the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests for current fees, reservation rules and seasonal access or closures before you go, and expect that road and weather conditions can change quickly at this altitude.
