Seedhouse Group Site is a single reservable group campsite listed as one total site set at about 8,000 feet in the Routt National Forest a few dozen miles northwest of Steamboat Springs, beyond the small community of Clark along Seedhouse Road. The site is organized for group use and can host up to 100 people, and within the group area there are eight primitive tent spots arranged with individual campfire rings and picnic tables. A large picnic shelter seats roughly 20 guests, and basic services are minimal: water is available from a hand-pump well, there are bear-proof food-storage lockers and trash receptacles, but no hookups or modern utilities. The campground is officially categorized to accommodate both RVs and tents, though conditions are primitive and any RVs should be prepared for a non-hookup, backcountry-style stay. The location puts you near the Elk River for trout fishing and within easy reach of backcountry trails into the Mount Zirkel Wilderness; a connector route to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail is a short drive away. Beyond fishing and day hikes, the larger Medicine Bow Routt and Thunder Basin landscapes support mountain biking, horseback riding, OHV routes, hunting, winter sports and wildlife viewing black bear, elk, mule deer, moose, bobcat and coyote are commonly reported in the region. Because elevation and weather vary widely across these forests (and frost, snow or high winds can occur even in summer), come prepared with warm layers and a plan for sudden storms.
