“Relaxing with plenty of space between campsites. So was individual unless you wanted to socialize. Bathrooms were clean. ”
“Site 24 by the entrance was great and nicely shaded. Pine martens in the area and abundant other wildlife. Excellent and friendly hosts. ”

Seedhouse Campground sits at about 8,000 feet in Routt National Forest along the Middle Fork of the Elk River, roughly 25 miles north of Steamboat Springs. The river's murmur threads through the trees from the campground and several mountain streams and the Elk corridor make the area a solid spot for trout fishing and riverside day trips. Hikers and bikers can use Seedhouse as a jumping-off point for trails near the Mount Zirkel Wilderness and there's a nearby connector to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail; horseback riding and river rafting are also common in the valley. Wildlife is part of the setting here black bear, bobcat, coyote, elk, mule deer and moose all inhabit the surrounding forests so store food securely and follow Forest Service wildlife guidelines. The campground has 23 campsites total, and all sites are configured to accommodate both tents and RVs; 15 of those sites can be reserved while the remainder are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site includes a picnic table and a campfire ring, and there are two hand-pump water systems located in the campground (no additional water or hookup details are provided, so plan accordingly). Seedhouse is reached via Routt County Elk River Road and Forest Road 400/Seedhouse Road, with the campground sitting just after the bridge over the North Fork of the Elk River; Steamboat Lake State Park is a short drive away for visitors looking for more lakeside recreation. Because the campground sits at high elevation and weather can turn cold or snowy even in summer, check current road, weather, fee and reservation information with the Medicine Bow Routt National Forests before heading out.
