“Nice site. Didn't like the traffic driving past our site. Disappointed in the freeway noise is such a beautiful area. Lovely site. Right next to the water. I do recommend. ”
“Great location for a quick trip from Reno. My dog had a blast swimming and chasing ball. I wasn’t a big fan of our camp neighbors building a campfire when there were clear signs everywhere to not have fires. Not sure who was supposed to monitor those dangerous fires. ”

Boca Campground sits on a plateau above the western shore of Boca Reservoir, about a 15-minute drive northeast of Truckee, and occupies a peninsula that looks out over open water and rolling lakeshore. The site is managed by Tahoe National Forest and contains 23 campsites in total: 20 sites designed for both RVs and tents and 3 sites reserved for tent camping only. Many sites are set among stands of mature Jeffrey pine and fir that supply patchy shade across an otherwise open campground; each campsite comes with a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill. Vault toilets are available, but there is no drinking water onsite, so plan to bring your own supply. The campground is reached from Interstate 80 via the Hirschdale Road exit and a short drive west toward Boca Dam; a public boat ramp is located less than a mile from the campground, making it convenient to unload boats and gear. Recreation at and around Boca centers on the reservoir and the Little Truckee River: boating, water skiing, swimming and fishing are popular at Boca Reservoir, while the nearby Little Truckee is known for catch-and-release fly-fishing. Trails in the area support hiking, biking, horseback riding and off-highway vehicle use, and the Boca Townsite Interpretive Trail located between Boca Dam and the railroad tracks traces the area's railroad and milling history. If you want more services or alternatives for launching watercraft, Truckee is about 15 minutes away with groceries, gas and restaurants; Stampede Reservoir lies roughly 12 miles north and Lake Tahoe around 25 minutes to the south for additional boating and hiking options. Because amenities, fees, seasonal openings and any fire or water restrictions can change, check with Tahoe National Forest (or recreation.gov) before you go for the latest reservation rules, current conditions and any regulations on campfires and food storage.
