“Great place to enjoy the lake. Way too long of a walk to the restroom, there was no water at the spigots. I probably won’t return. ”
“Camp hosts were amazing. Area was clean. Would be great if they could get the water on.”

Lakeside Campground sits along the northwestern shore of Prosser Reservoir, about a ten-minute drive north of Truckee on Highway 89, and is operated and maintained by the Tahoe National Forest. The site has 42 single-family campsites each configured to serve both tents and RVs and every campsite includes a picnic table and a metal campfire ring. Vault toilets and a potable water source are available within the loop. Trees here are a mix of lodgepole pine and fir scattered across an otherwise open shoreline, so some sites offer little shade while others sit in full sun; many campsites afford direct views across the reservoir and toward the surrounding peaks. Because the facility is on a National Forest road system, check the Forest Service website or contact the Tahoe National Forest office for up-to-date information on fees, reservation policies, seasonal openings and any road conditions before you go. Prosser Reservoir makes Lakeside a good base for water activities canoeing, swimming and fishing are common, and powerboats are permitted with a 10-mph speed limit; the nearest paved boat ramp is about a mile south near Prosser Ranch Group Campground. The surrounding landscape supports a wide range of recreation: hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and scenic auto touring, plus hunting and wildlife viewing in season. Off-highway vehicle users will find the Prosser OHV staging area roughly two miles west across Highway 89 with access to the Prosser Hill Motorcycle Trail and the Prosser Hill and Sagehen Hills OHV systems; note that campground access to OHV routes is limited to ingress and egress only, and riders must stay on designated routes. The Forest cautions that not all closed routes are gated or posted consult the Motor Vehicle Use Map before riding, and be mindful that reckless use can cause lasting resource damage and lead to further restrictions. Nearby destinations within a short drive include Truckee's year-round services and dining, Boca Reservoir about 30 minutes to the east, and Lake Tahoe roughly 30 minutes to the south, along with local trails and recreation sites such as Donner Camp Interpretive Trail, the Overland Emigrant Commemorative Trail, Stampede Reservoir, and the Prosser Pits OHV area.
