Hidden View Campground sits on the shore of Hensley Lake in the lower Sierra Nevada foothills about 50 miles north of Fresno, a roughly one-hour drive along state highways that also connects to Madera and routes toward Yosemite. The lake itself made when Hidden Dam was built on the Fresno River covers about 1,500 acres and provides more than 20 miles of shoreline, producing a mix of open water and sheltered coves. Those coves are where anglers commonly find largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish, while rainbow trout are stocked each winter. On the far side of the lake a designated swim beach, a disc golf course and multi-use trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding create distinct activity zones, and bank fishermen have easy shoreline access; environmental-education programs are held at the campground amphitheater most Saturday nights during the summer. The immediate campground sits among oak woodlands that alternate sun and shade and occupy land once inhabited by the Miwok and Yokut peoples, so you'll get both water access and a foothills oak-landscape feel without having to drive deep into the high country. The campground itself has 53 sites in total: 42 sites set up to accommodate both RVs and tents and 11 tent-only sites, arranged across three loops Loop A with 10 sites, Loop B with 16, and Loop C with 25 plus two group sites for larger gatherings. Many camps are within walking distance of the lake and the boat ramp, and several provide electric hookups; there are no unverified claims about additional hookups or utilities, so plan on basic services and bring what you need for RV use. Hidden View supports a broad range of activities on-site and around the lake boating, water sports and water skiing from the ramp and open water, fishing, hiking, picnicking, wildlife viewing and playground or specialized-sport use at the disc golf area and reservations (and any applicable fees) must be made before occupying a campsite. For visitors heading on to other attractions, Yosemite lies about an hour to the north and Sequoia and Kings Canyon about 1.5 hours to the southeast, making Hidden View a practical base for combining lake recreation with visits to the big parks.
