“We had an amazing time! Even though there was a nearby chaotic campsite. the issue was addressed and taken care of from the camp host. ”

Lupine Campground sits a little set back from Bass Lake and feels calmer than its neighbor, Cedar Bluff; the sites here are arranged under large Ponderosa pines that shade a campground at about 3,400 feet on the western slope of the central Sierra Nevada. There are 51 campsites in all 39 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 12 tent-only sites grouped into three loops identified by site numbers: 63 75 (13 sites), 76 93 (18 sites) and 94 113 (20 sites). Each campsite includes a picnic table, grill, campfire ring and a paved parking spur; most spurs are large enough for boat trailers. Lupine provides accessible flush toilets and drinking water, so basic services are on hand, and the extra distance from the shore gives many sites a bit more privacy and quieter evenings compared with the lakeside spots at Cedar Bluff. Outdoor options center on Bass Lake and the surrounding Sierra National Forest. The lake has a beach and boat ramp and supports swimming, motorized boating, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, sailing and year-round fishing for bass, trout, bluegill and catfish; bald and golden eagles are often spotted in the area. Several trailheads are nearby Willow Creek, Goat Mountain, Spring Cove and the Way-of-the-Mono Interpretive Trail and weekend educational programs run during the summer. Lupine is managed through Recreation.gov (individual sites typically become available six months in advance, group sites up to 12 months), so plan to book online; a $10 service fee applies to most changes or cancellations, late cancellations may forfeit the first night's fee (and could incur additional service charges), and no-shows can be assessed a $20 service fee. The campground is reached from Highway 41 via the Bass Lake turnoff (about 3.5 miles southeast to the Bass Lake office, then roughly 2.75 miles on to the Lupine/Cedar Bluff area) and is about 24 miles from Yosemite National Park's South Entrance.
