Nordheimer Group Sites sit along the Salmon River in northern California and are set among Douglas firs and hardwoods that give partial shade through the day. TOTAL CAMPSITES: 4 there are four group sites (Sites A, B, C and D), and the SITE TYPE BREAKDOWN is 4 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites, so each site can accommodate both trailers and tents. Sites A, B and C open onto large grassy meadows ringed by forest, while Site D overlooks the Salmon River and offers easy walking access for boaters and swimmers. Each group site is built to hold up to 50 guests and is equipped with picnic tables, a campfire circle and a grill; vault toilets are located within walking distance. Roads and parking are gravel, and a few legacy fruit trees and regular wildlife sightings add local character to the river corridor. The Salmon River is the focal point for on-site recreation swimming, sunbathing, rafting and kayaking are common here and the nearby Orleans Mountain Trail and trailheads into the Marble Mountain Wilderness expand options for hiking, horseback riding and high-country fishing in any of the area's 89 lakes. More broadly, Six Rivers National Forest supports auto touring, biking, fishing, hiking, horse camping and off-highway vehicle riding, and the forest maintains fire lookouts and some overnight cabins. Access to Nordheimer is by following Salmon River Road/Forest Highway 93 about 13 miles from Highway 96; because the listing specifies gravel roads and parking, check current road conditions before you go. The written description lists picnic facilities and vault toilets but does not specify potable water or RV hookups, nor does it give fees or reservation rules, so confirm fees, permit needs and seasonal availability with the local ranger district before planning a large group trip.
