Little Beaver Campground sits on the southeastern shore of Little Grass Valley Reservoir, about four miles from the little town of La Porte, and is the largest campground on the lake. The facility contains 119 campsites each designed to accommodate both tents and RVs and those sites are arranged across three loops (Loop A has 41 sites, Loop B 38 sites, and Loop C 40 sites). Every campsite includes a picnic table and a metal campfire ring; the campground provides flush toilets and drinking water on site, and RV campers can access a dump station and additional drinking water within about a mile. A swimming beach, boat launch, amphitheater and the Lakeshore Trail are adjacent to the campground, and one of the two lakeside beaches sits right next to the looped sites so you can step from your camp to the water for a quick swim or an evening shoreline walk. Premium lakeside sites are listed at $25 per night; for current fees, reservations, seasonal openings and cancellation details check Plumas National Forest or the agency website before you go. The recreation options around Little Beaver extend well beyond the camp boundaries. The broader Little Grass Valley Recreation Area offers three boat ramps for fishing, sailing or water-skiing, and there's a wheelchair-accessible fishing ramp at the dam; the 13.5-mile Lakeshore Trail circles the reservoir and is open to hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers, while the Pacific Crest Trail and numerous other hiking routes are nearby. Wildlife viewing is productive along the shoreline and in the surrounding mixed-conifer forest look for osprey and bald eagles over the water and deer, bear and smaller mammals in the woods and geological features and old gold-mining sites within about 10 miles invite exploration. The campground is reached from State Route 70 via La Porte Quincy Road (or from Brownsville via La Porte Road) with a short turn onto Old Little Grass Valley Road; the town of La Porte, four miles away, provides basic services like food, supplies and gasoline.
