“The campground is very nice, with corrals and restrooms etc. The trails were not cleared and there were alot of trees down. Beautiful area.”
“The campground was clean, quiet and well maintained. Other than no bear box at our particular camp site everything was about as good as it could get.”

Whitehorse Campground sits at about 5,500 feet amid a stand of firs and pines on the north side of the Sierra near Bucks Lake, where a small creek from the campground drains toward the reservoir. The immediate area is threaded with trails: a short walk brings you down to Bucks Lake for fishing, boating, and canoeing, and a hiking route from the campground links into the Buck Wilderness and the Pacific Crest Trail, which runs adjacent to the sites. The Bucks Lake area supports year-round recreation in summer anglers and boaters are common, while winter brings opportunities for snowmobiling, skiing and snowshoeing; horseback riding is also a local option. If you want a bite or last-minute supplies, Bucks Lake Lodge nearby maintains a bar, restaurant and store with fishing gear and groceries. Facilities at Whitehorse are straightforward and rustic: there are 19 total campsites, with 16 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and 3 equestrian sites, all non-electric. Each campsite includes a picnic table and a fire ring; vault toilets and drinking water are available on site. Note the seasonal booking pattern: sites are walk-up from May 24, 2019 through June 30, 2019, and may be reserved July 1, 2019 through September 8, 2019. The campground sits off State Highway 70 roughly 15 miles west of Quincy along Oroville-Quincy Highway; drivers with large RVs should approach via Big Creek Road onto Bucks Lake Road (rather than the direct turn) to reach the campground more easily.
