“The camp ground is clean and quiet. Easily accessible from the freeway, and close to the Lake Shasta Cave Tour. ”
“I was in Site 7. Site is super big with no neighbors to either side. As some folks have pointed out you can hear the highway but not loud enough to ruin the stay. Facilities were clean and close. I would go back.”
“Site was fine, host was helpful but cost was way to high. Not only could we not use our senior pass but they charge a bunch of extra taxes. Maybe just because this is in California, but it's not worth the cost.”

Shasta Caverns/OBrien Exit off I-5

Bailey Cove Campground sits on the McCloud Arm of Lake Shasta about 15 miles north of Redding, with easy access from I-5 take the Shasta Caverns Road exit and follow signs about a mile to the campground entrance. The site has seven campsites, each designed to accommodate both RVs and tents and outfitted with a tent pad, picnic table, raised fire ring, a paved parking spur and bear boxes; brick pavers and paved spurs improve wheelchair access. Basic services include flush toilets and drinking water, and a day-use area adjoins the campground with the public boat ramp, extra parking, restrooms, picnic tables with BBQ grills and several short hiking routes. Because the boat ramp is immediately adjacent, anglers and boaters find this location especially convenient, and boat rentals are available nearby. Reservations may carry an additional non-refundable $10 reservation fee for phone or online bookings; if a reservation was made through Recreation.gov call 1-877-444-6777 to request a refund. Full refunds (less Recreation.gov fees) must be requested at least 14 days before arrival. Cash or check refunds are issued by mail after approval and can be requested by calling the forest office at 530-275-8113 (processing occurs within 30 days). Emergency closure refunds are handled by Recreation.gov; refunds are not issued for naturally occurring events such as low lake level, smoke, or weather. For walk-up site refund questions, contact the on-site host or the office above. The campground's setting emphasizes water access and forested shoreline character more than large developed amenities: Lake Shasta sits at about 1,067 feet elevation and offers 365 miles of shoreline broken by steep slopes of manzanita and evergreen, with a distant view line that can include snow-capped Mount Shasta on clear days. Wildlife is active here osprey nests are often visible along the arm and the three-mile Bailey Cove Trail runs along the shore for hikers and mountain bikers who want a longer outing without leaving the immediate area. From this point you're also a short drive from guided tours at Lake Shasta Caverns on the Grey Rocks and from higher vantage points such as the Hirz Mountain Lookout (around 3,500 feet) that open up views toward Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen. Beyond the immediate lake pursuits (boating, swimming, fishing, picnicking) the larger Shasta-Trinity National Forest supports a wide range of recreation auto touring, climbing, overnight stays in fire lookouts or cabins, horse camping and riding, hunting and winter sports so Bailey Cove works well as a compact, water-oriented basecamp for exploring the region.
