“There are resorts nearby and i heard pounding live music from 8-10pm. Not offensive, but not welcomed in an “outdoors” vacation. I left the city behind, i thought.”
“A beautiful park located right on the lake. The hosts keep this park so clean.”
“The new camp host is doing an awesome job keeping the campgrounds looking great. We camped, we swam, we boated with our dogs and went for a day trip to Mt Shasta. Lakeshore East is the perfect home base. ”

Lakeshore East sits on the Sacramento Arm of Lake Shasta just north of Redding, near the town of Lakehead off I-5, and offers a straightforward lakeside camping experience framed by oaks and pines with grass and wild raspberry undergrowth between sites. The campground contains 25 sites in all: 23 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and 2 tent-only sites; each site includes a paved parking spur, a picnic table and a raised fire ring. There are two sturdier, weatherproof yurts available year-round for those who want a roof without bringing a trailer, and walk-in camping is accepted year-round. Drinking water and flush toilets (including toilets that meet current accessibility standards) are provided, but there are no electrical hookups or dump stations on site, so RV visitors should plan accordingly. Standard single sites are sized to hold up to 8 people (and an unlimited number of tents) and double sites up to 16 people (also with unlimited tents), making the campground suitable for small groups and families who want straightforward access to the lake. Recreation at Lakeshore East centers on water: several sites have direct lake access, informal boat mooring is sometimes possible, and both Antlers (about 2 miles away) and Sugar Loaf boat ramps are nearby for powerboats and tow sports. Anglers can expect opportunities for trout, catfish, Chinook salmon, crappie, bluegill, white sturgeon, brown bullhead and bass; swimming, waterskiing and general boating are common pastimes on Lake Shasta's 365 miles of shoreline. Beyond the shoreline, the Shasta-Trinity National Forest offers a broad range of activities hiking, auto touring, horseback riding, hunting, climbing and winter sports among them and features rugged evergreen- and manzanita-covered mountains with Mount Shasta visible on the horizon. Reservations can be made through Recreation.gov (note the non-refundable reservation fee of $10 for online or call center bookings); if you need to request a refund call 1-877-444-6777 and do so at least 14 days before arrival for a full refund excluding Recreation.gov fees. Cash or check refunds are handled by the local office (call 530-275-8113) and are processed within 30 days; refunds are issued for emergency closures but not for naturally occurring events like wind, smoke, low lake levels or weather.
