“Parking spot was not very level for the trailer - bring blocks. Good open site, smooth, ok for tents. Neighbors kept cutting through our site to go visit their friends on the other side of us. Close to a water spigot.”

Stumpy Meadows sits beside the clear surface of Stumpy Meadows Reservoir in a heavy conifer forest, offering 39 campsites that are spaced to provide a good degree of privacy: 29 sites are set up for both RVs and tents and 10 are tent-only. Tall Ponderosa pines, fir, oak and cedar shade the campground, and although no sites have direct water views the reservoir is a short walk away. Basic amenities include vault toilets and drinking water supplied from spigots, and a public boat ramp is located about a mile from the campground. The site serves as a quiet base for exploring Eldorado National Forest the forest contains over 400 miles of hiking trails and a mix of lakes and rivers so you can easily mix shoreline relaxation with day hikes or bike rides on nearby trails. The region follows a Mediterranean-like climate, with warm, dry summers that favor lake activities and colder, wetter winters that can affect travel and comfort. The reservoir is regularly stocked with Rainbow and German Brown trout, making fishing a primary draw, and its clear water invites swimming, paddling in kayaks or canoes, and slow-paced motorboating (5 m.p.h. speed limit). Stumpy Meadows is about a 15-mile drive from the historic gold-town of Georgetown and is reached from Highway 193 off Highway 49 near Placerville, putting scenic drives and gold-rush sites within easy reach El Dorado County Scenic Highway and Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park are nearby attractions. Visitors should be prepared for recreation fees for overnight camping and other site uses; reservation service fees are charged at booking ($8 online, $9 via call center, $3 if made in person) and are non-refundable. A $10 service fee is withheld from any refunded cancellation, a cut-off window for changes or cancellations is typically four days before arrival, and late cancellations (including same-day or day-before) may forfeit the first night's use fee in addition to the $10 fee; a service fee may also be charged for modifications.
