“Loved that Tyler came by and helped with the burn pass so we could use our stove. The bathroom was decent but was very very empty. ”
“There are no toilets even though the website says there are toilets, it was very misleading ”
“Most of the trails were all blocked and over grown. ”

Dru Barner Campground sits about 6 miles outside Georgetown on the ridge of the Hornblende Mountains, where Otter Creek has carved a forested canyon to the north and rolling ridges around Rock Creek fall to the south. The tree mix here Ponderosa and sugar pine, Douglas-fir, white fir and incense cedar with pockets of black oak and madrone gives a varied feel: some loops under a canopy, others with little shade, so expect sun exposure at several sites. Wildlife is a regular presence; turkeys and deer are commonly seen and bears, coyotes and raccoons are part of the neighborhood, so food storage matters. The campground is a convenient gateway to non-motorized trails and sits close to the multi-use Rock Creek Trail System; equestrian groups routinely use Dru Barner as a staging area and organizers have run post-ride cookouts in the campground's group kitchen. For water recreation, Stumpy Meadows Reservoir is about 15 miles east (boating and shore access; the concessionaire manages the ramp and day-use area and there is a stated 5-mile speed limit for motor boats), and historic sites like Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park are within a short drive for day trips. There are 48 campsites in all exactly 26 designated equestrian sites and 22 suited to RVs and the facilities reflect that dual purpose. Most sites have picnic tables and metal fire rings; parking spurs are a mix of gravel and dirt with varying lengths to handle everything from long trailers and motorhomes to a car and short horse trailer. Six sites include large bear-proof food lockers that will hold two coolers; several sites have nearby corrals or hitching posts and high-line posts are strung between campsites for tying stock. Water faucets are distributed through the loop and the campground normally provides potable water, though the overnight fee has been temporarily reduced from $8 to $4 per vehicle per night due to a water system outage; day use is $3 per vehicle and the group kitchen may be rented for $1 per person. There are two flush restrooms with sinks and two vault toilets in the north loop; the site is unstaffed, so for up-to-date information call the Eldorado office at (530) 334-6477 before you go.
