Tuyet Mai C ★ 4 · Sep 2025Campsites were cleared out pretty neatly. Very tidy and the camp host made sure other campers cleared out properly. Super awesome to have drinking water spigots near campsites. Just be observant because not all spigots were potable water. Wish the site didn't have vault toilets, but still a great trip.
Hannah S ★ 5 · Aug 2025Very cool spot, had a smaller group and we were able to spread out and really enjoy the space. Only wished you could see through the tree canopy a little better. The stars in lassen are next level!

Gurnsey Creek Campground sits at about 4,700 feet in a mixed-conifer forest alongside the creek that gives the site its name, offering a quiet mountain setting with direct access to water and shade. The campground provides 2 individual campsites, both configured to accommodate RVs and tents, and additionally includes two reservable group sites Group Site 1 for up to 56 people and Group Site 2 for up to 112 people. Picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, accessible vault toilets and drinking water are provided on site, and a water-filling station stands at the campground entrance; there are no utility hookups. Parking within the campground is limited, so while RVs are allowed at the two individual sites, larger rigs should plan ahead and verify space. Recreation centers on hiking, picnicking and trout fishing in Gurnsey Creek, with trails and day-use spots nearby and rainbow trout reported in the creek. For broader options, the campground sits about 14 miles west of the town of Chester and Lake Almanor where boating and watersports are popular and roughly 14 miles south of the southwest entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park, which features active fumaroles and boiling mud pots. Group sites are explicitly reservable; the reservation status, nightly fees, seasonal opening dates and any vehicle-size restrictions for individual sites aren't detailed here, so check current Lassen National Forest information or the official reservation service before you go. To reach the campground from Chester, follow Highway 36 west about 14 miles the site is on the right, a couple of miles past the Highway 32 junction.
